About us (me)
There is no us, I’m just a guy who collects stuff. I’ve been an avid collector and trader for my entire life, and one of my favorite collectibles to hoard is trading cards. I’ve sent and received countless trading cards through the mail, with varying degrees of disappointment on the outcome. When ding preventers came on the scene, it was a clever bit of security that created a lot of sighs of relief. But with every solution cometh another problem. I was getting tired of using masking tape to secure all 4 sides of the ding preventers around the cards, and then I felt like a jerk if I didn’t fold a piece over (x4) at the end of the tape to create a tab for the recipient to peel easier. It gets… tedious. especially at scale (I’m talking to you Whatnot Streamers). I wanted a faster, reusable, customizable, and an even safer solution. Like a fever dream, I threw the Whale Tailz© into a drawing and voila, another solution. We are what we believe to be an emerging kind of business. The world operates at such a rapid pace, 2-day shipping wasn’t even good enough for us. Now we have overnight and same-day delivery, so my dog barks at 4AM to wake me up cause there’s a scary delivery man at our door in the middle of the night.
We run a print farm, but not in the usual sense. We believe we are a new kind of business, where micro-batches of products can be produced inexpensively, quickly, and with custom touches that traditional manufacturing can’t accomplish. We make Whale Tailz© mostly to order so we can keep overhead low and thus, our prices. But we know they can still be pricey for those who ship all the time, or do it as part of their income. We want to have a product available for everyone to the casual collector all the way up to the pro streamers who send out cases and cases of cards each week. Therefore, we created 2 methods of purchase: purchase Physical Product we’ll manufacture for you, and 3d Printing Licenses to manufacture them yourself. This allows those with access to a 3d printer or who want to produce a large volume of them to pay a one-time, lifetime fee. We hate subscriptions.
